Manufacturing in an Age of Disruption
56th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems
24 – 26 October 2023, Cape Town, South Africa
The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) is the world leading organization in production engineering research and is at the forefront of design, optimization, control and management of processes, machines and systems. The Academy has restricted membership based on demonstrated excellence in research and has some 600 members worldwide.
The aim of CIRP is to promote scientific research, and particularly international cooperation, related to manufacturing processes, production equipment and automation, manufacturing systems, and product design and manufacturing. Although a scientific organisation, CIRP also encourages industry participation in its activities and promotes the industrial application of the fundamental research work. CIRP has some 170 corporate members in 30 countries, which include many of the world’s leading companies and non-university based research institutions, as well as many other small and medium size enterprises.
CIRP disseminates its work through two main publications, the CIRP Annals and the Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology. Through its membership, CIRP organizes a number of conferences, notably the annual Conference on Manufacturing Systems and a number of other conferences with relevant topics. CIRP members also organize a variety of conferences, under the sponsorship of CIRP.
The 56th CIRP CMS 2023 conference, to be held in South Africa in October 2023, aims to provide researchers and industry specialists in production technology with a global venue for exchanging ideas, discuss innovations, and disseminate cutting-edge research under the main conference theme of Manufacturing in the Age of Disruption. Specific topics to be addressed include:
- Biologicalisation in Manufacturing
- Sustainable and Circular Manufacturing
